Our preschool room is a vibrant community of inquisitive, capable and creative young learners preparing for their transition to school and the wider world.

We view preschoolers as active drivers of their own learning, brimming with theories, ideas and potential. By integrating a dedicated mindfulness program, regular excursions into the local community, and deeply embedded literacy and numeracy, we cultivate confident, resilient, and life-ready thinkers.

  • Mindful Hearts& Self-Regulated Minds

We introduce age-appropriate mindfulness routines-guided breathwork, body awareness, quiet reflection and mindful movement- to help children develop self-regulation, focus and emotional resilience.

Children are empowered to recognise, name and navigate complex feelings. Mindfulness tools give them strategies to manage frustration, anxiety or excitement independently.

  • Learning Beyond the Walls (Regular Excursions)

Weekly and regular excursions into the local neighbourhood- parks, libraries, markets- connect the room learning with real-world context. Exploring the local environment builds a strong sense of belonging and responsibility as a Kaitiaki of our taonga.

  • Immersive and Meaningful Literacy & Numeracy

Literacy and numeracy are woven naturally into play, storytelling, cooking, building and scientific exploration. Preschoolers engage in deep conversations, print-rich environments and early writing experiences driven by their own interests and projects. Mathematical concepts-patterning, measurement, spatial awareness, counting and problem-solving-

are explored through hands-on construction, loose parts sorting, etc.

  • Empowered Agency & School Readiness

School readiness is defined by independence, curiosity, social confidence, persistence and problem-solving abilities. Long-term group inquiries emerge from children's questions, allowing them to research, hypothesis-test and present their findings.
