Our toddler room is an active, joyful environment designed to celebrate the vibrant energy, growing independence and relentless curiosity of young children.
We view toddlers as capable explorers navigating a crucial stage of self-discovery.
By balancing supportive guidance with rich opportunities for autonomy, we create a secure community where toddlers learn to express themselves, form relationships and build confidence in their own abilities.

Fostering Autonomy & Self Efficacy
We view everyday tasks- putting on shoes, pouring water, washing hands, and serving food- as essential learning opportunities. Our kaiako allow time for children to try, practice, and master these skills independently.
We recognise that asserting boundary preferences is a healthy developmental milestone, and we guide toddlers gently toward positive behaviours while honouring their emerging sense of identity.
-
Social-emotional Co-Regulation
Toddlers feel emotions intensely but are still developing the language and self-regulation to process them. We kaiako serve as calm, grounded co-regulators, helping children label emotions and work through frustration safely.
We guide toddlers from parallel play to collaborative play, actively teaching sharing, turn-taking, empathy, and boundary-setting through gentle modelling.
-
Heuristic & Open-ended play
We provide rich sensory experiences, natural materials, and loose parts that invite imagination, trial and error and open-ended experimentation.
